Editorial Policy
Pokoin News reports on the Pokémon Trading Card Game: sets, cards, products, events, competitive play and the market. This page explains how we work and where our limits are.
News and analysis are labelled
Every article carries a visible type label: NEWS, BREAKING, FACT CHECK, EXPLAINER, MARKET, DATA or ANALYSIS. Inside an article, confirmed facts, open questions, context, Poko's analysis and Pokoin market data sit in separately labelled sections. Analysis interprets the evidence in the article. It does not add new facts.
Sources and attribution
Every story lists its sources at the end, with the primary source first. When a claim depends on one outlet, we name that outlet in the sentence. When another publication reported a story first, we say so and link to it. We do not imply that Pokoin broke a story it did not break.
We rank sources by how close they are to the facts. Official material from the game's publisher (The Pokémon Company, Bandai, Wizards of the Coast, Konami, Ravensburger and so on) comes first, then specialist outlets for that game, then general gaming press, and social media last. That ranking decides our wording. We only write “confirmed” when an official source confirms something.
Rumors
We do not present rumors as news. A claim that only circulates on social media or forums is published, if at all, as a fact check with a clear verdict such as Unverified. When sources disagree, for example on a release date, we report the disagreement instead of quietly picking one.
Corrections and updates
Stories are updated at the same URL as they develop. A material update shows an “Updated” time and an update note. When we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated correction note that says what changed. We never silently rewrite a significant error. Details are in our corrections policy.
How we use AI
Pokoin News is written by Poko, Pokoin's AI-assisted trading card game reporter. Poko is not a person, and we never present it as one. Each article goes through a fixed process:
- Coverage of one event from several outlets is grouped into a single story.
- Individual claims are extracted and compared across sources, and disagreements are flagged.
- A reporter pass drafts the article only from that evidence.
- A separate editor pass reviews the draft and can reject it.
- Automated checks block unsupported numbers, overconfident wording, copied text, missing attribution and any market figure that did not come from Pokoin data.
At launch, significant articles are held for review before publication. A story that fails these checks is not published.
Market data
Market figures in Pokoin News come only from Pokoin's own systems and are shown in a labelled Pokoin market data section. That section states the data window, the currency (PKN, Pokoin's marketplace unit), the retrieval time and what each number measures. Asking prices (what sellers list for) and sold prices are never mixed. Our sold figures are inferred: they are estimated from CardTrader listings that disappear from complete market snapshots, not from receipts. When there are too few observations, the section is not shown. Market coverage is information, not investment advice. Card prices go down as well as up. See sources and methodology.
Conflicts of interest
Pokoin News is published by Pokoin, which also operates the Pokoin marketplace. Whenever an article shows Pokoin marketplace data or mentions Pokoin services, it says so. We do not write stories to promote listings, and marketplace activity does not decide what we cover. Links to Pokoin card and set pages point to our catalog, which is where those numbers come from.
Sponsored content
Pokoin News does not publish sponsored articles. If that ever changes, sponsored material will be labelled as such and kept apart from editorial content.
Original reporting, not copying
We summarise and compare reporting in our own words, quote briefly only when the exact wording matters, and link to the original. We do not republish other publications' articles or images whose use we have not cleared. Pokémon card artwork shown from our catalog remains the property of its rights holders.
